Qualcomm Snapdragon Developer Kits can now be purchased by all developers targeting the Windows on ARM platform. The Snapdragon Developer Kit is powered by an entry-level Snapdragon 7c Compute SoC and allows developers test, optimize, and deploy ARM64 apps on Windows.
Qualcomm has now announced commercial availability of Snapdragon Developer Kits for app developers to test and validate their software on the Windows on Snapdragon (WoS) platform. Qualcomm said that wide availability of the Snapdragon Developer Kit will “lower the barrier to entry for ISVs committed to optimizing their application experience on the growing portfolio of Always On, Always Connected PCs (ACPCs).”
The Snapdragon Developer Kit LIVA QC710 does not feature high-end specifications. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Compute SoC paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. There is a microSD card slot available as well. Connectivity options include 1x USB Type-C with Power Delivery, 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, 1x USB 2.0 Type-A, 1x HDMI, and 1x 100 Mbps LAN along with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth. The device runs Windows 10 Home 64-bit, which can be updated to Windows 11.
The Snapdragon Developer Kit was first unveiled back in May this year and was built in collaboration with Microsoft primarily to reduce the overall cost of deployment compared to using conventional Windows on ARM (WoA) laptops. Developers can test and optimize native ARM64 apps on Windows 10 and Windows 11 targeting all kinds of Snapdragon Compute platforms from entry-level to high-end.
Qualcomm said that the Snapdragon Developer Kits are already in use by ISVs such as Symantec, Zoom Video Communications, and CrowdStrike. Now, other developers can also purchase the Snapdragon Developer Kit from the Microsoft Store for US$219, and they get to keep it forever.
